  1. Karen Swedman Says:

The nice weather has certainly brought fishing to mind this week but unfortunately, the month of February brings a couple of sections of Madison River closures.

Beginning the 3rd weekend in February, the Madison River is closed from Quake Lake downstream to McAtee Bridge and again from Ennis Town Bridge to the Lake.

These closures begin the anticipation of warm weather and fishing adventures with good friends and family that will soon follow. Start making your plans now to fish with one of the guides here in Ennis, you are sure to have a great and memorable time.

  2. jessie Says:

When is the river opening and when are the new licenses available?

  3. Karen Swedman Says:

The Madison River will open, in the closed sections, the 3rd weekend of May. The fishing licenses are now currently available.

Madisonian posts snowpack levels

February 15th, 2008

Don’t put away your winter snow gear as of yet…..March has just arrived and it is usually the time when we get more snow.  If you would like to check out the conditions anywhere in the state go to www.mt.nrcs.usda.gov/snow.

The Madisonian, our county wide newspaper, posted snow levels  in it’s last edition.  The Madison River Basin was at 113% of average (166% of last year); the Gallatin Basin was at 107%; the Jefferson at 100%; the Missouri Basin at 114%; and the Yellowstone at 103% of average.  These figures were taken from January snowpack levels.  By the first of February we usually have received 60 to 65% of our seasonal snowpack……so COME ON SNOW!!!

Madison Valley Hospital is under construction

Madison Valley Hospital is under constructionThe new Madison Valley Hospital is starting to move up as contractors are setting beams and roof.  This picture was taken 2/14/08

  1. Sam Korsmoe Says:

Construction of your new Madison Valley Hospital & Clinic is going great. As of this writing (March 6, 2008), we are in the 24th week of construction and everything is on time and on budget (slightly under budget actually) for a December 2008 opening.

To review briefly, we are building the following structure:

    * A two-level 36,470 square foot medical facility
    * The upper level will contain a 10-bed hospital, laboratory, radiology,
    ER, and business offices
    * The lower level will contain the clinic, physical therapy, conference
rooms, storage, and all the maintenance for the building.

There is a lot of good news about what is the largest public facility project in the history of the Madison Valley. The total cost is $10.5 million. The Madison Valley Hospital Foundation has raised nearly $4 million for the project. The hospital will borrow $6.5 million in tax exempt financing from Big Sky Western Bank and USDA Rural Development. The total cost of this capital is just 4.97% over 30 years. That’s quite a deal for our community. We recently completed all the construction bids for the first phase of the project. These bids came in well under budget. The savings will be applied to phase two construction which is due to begin as soon as possible.

Our contractor is Dick Anderson Construction of Great Falls. It has an extensive track record of health care facility construction. It was selected in a competitive bid based on a strong record of completing projects on time and on budget. The architect is JGA of Billings. It also has an extensive track record on designing health care facilities. We consider ourselves quite lucky to be working with two very professional firms.

If you would like more information on the project, please call 406-682-5923 or email us at info@madcoedc.org

2007 Market Trends

February 15th, 2008

Reed Real Estate has just mailed out their annual newsletter and posted it on their website showing current market trends in the Madison area.  The housing market continues to be strong with Ennis home sales up 25% in the number of sales and up 22% in price.  “Out of town home sales” were up 46% in the number of sales and steady in price, still averaging over $450,000 for any home sold on acreage outside the city limits.  “Bare land sales” were harder to track as the number of sales were greatly diminished.  The overall feel is that prices were steady or up slightly depending on the area.  (For more detailed information read the newsletter on the website)
